CitizenCon 2025 Recap: Nyx, Tactical Strikes & The Future
CitizenCon 2025 delivered major reveals — the Nyx star system, Tactical Strike Groups, expanded server meshing, and early looks at base building and crafting.

CitizenCon 2025
CitizenCon Direct 2025 aired on October 11, 2025, as a two-hour digital livestream from CIG’s Manchester office. No in-person event this year, but the reveals more than made up for it.
Here’s everything that matters.
Nyx System Revealed
The third star system is coming. Nyx joins Stanton and Pyro with:
- Delamar — home to the independent settlement of Levski, one of the most requested locations in Star Citizen history
- Glaciem Belt — a dense asteroid ring with mining opportunities and navigational hazards
- Vanduul threat — Nyx sits closer to Vanduul space, introducing hostile alien encounters for the first time
Nyx was confirmed for the November 4.4 patch — just weeks after CitizenCon. CIG wasn’t just teasing; they were announcing an imminent release.
What Nyx Means
Three star systems fundamentally changes the game. The logistics of moving goods, ships, and personnel across three systems creates genuine strategic depth. Trade routes become longer and more complex. Security needs multiply. Exploration has an entirely new frontier.
Tactical Strike Groups
One of the most exciting reveals: Tactical Strike Groups are raid-style content designed for organized multi-crew operations.
- Capital ship assaults requiring coordinated squadron attacks
- Trench-run style gameplay — high-speed navigation through hostile environments
- Ship composition matters — different roles (fighters, bombers, support, medical) needed for success
- Designed for orgs — solo players need not apply
This is the content CDYN has been waiting for. Our multi-division structure is purpose-built for exactly this kind of coordinated gameplay.
Expanded Server Mesh
CIG unveiled the next evolution of server meshing:
- Dynamic server spin-up/spin-down based on player density
- Servers automatically allocate where players congregate
- More efficient resource usage means higher player counts
- Foundation for true dynamic events at scale
This is the technology that makes everything else possible. Without expanded meshing, three systems with meaningful player populations wouldn’t work.
New Ships
| Ship | Manufacturer | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Anvil Paladin | Anvil Aerospace | Heavy gunship |
| Esperia Stinger | Esperia | Vanduul retrofit fighter |
| Grey’s Market ship | Grey’s Market | Kitbash utility ship |
The Paladin is particularly interesting — a heavy gunship that could fill the fire support role in Tactical Strike Groups.
Base Building & Crafting Teased
CIG showed early progress on two major future features:
- Base building — modular construction with player-placed structures
- Crafting — using salvaged materials to create FPS items and equipment
Both are targeted for 2026 implementation. No playable demo yet, but the concepts look promising.
CDYN Takeaways
- Nyx is imminent. Start planning multi-system logistics now.
- Tactical Strike Groups are our content. Division leaders should begin theorycrafting squadron compositions.
- Vanduul encounters change everything. Our Security division needs to prepare for hostile alien PvE.
- Base building is coming. Think about where CDYN wants to establish a presence.
CitizenCon 2025 delivered. The future of the verse looks strong.
