Regen Crisis Survival: A Guide to Pyro's Sandbox Content
Alpha 4.2 introduced new Regen Crisis locations across Pyro. Here's how to find them, what to expect, and how to survive.

What Is the Regen Crisis?
The Regen Crisis is an ongoing narrative event in Pyro that unfolds through persistent sandbox locations. Unlike time-limited events, these locations and missions are permanent additions that evolve with each patch.
The premise: critical regeneration technology across Pyro is failing, and various factions are scrambling to secure resources. Players interact with this story through new locations, missions, and environmental encounters.
New Location Types
Research Facilities
Abandoned or contested research stations scattered across Pyro’s planets and moons. These are primarily exploration and PvE content:
- Environmental hazards: Radiation leaks, structural damage, depressurized sections
- AI enemies: Expect hostile NPCs guarding valuable data and materials
- Loot: Research data, rare components, and crafting materials
- Lore: Data pads and terminal entries that advance the Regen Crisis story
Recommended loadout: Combat armor, medical supplies, flashlight attachment, multi-tool
Area Security Depots (ASDs)
Fortified military positions with mixed PvP and PvE content:
- Controlled by NPC factions — you may need to fight your way in
- Valuable resources inside, including high-tier weapons and armor
- PvP hotspot — other players will be here for the same loot
- Respawn nearby — fights tend to be prolonged and intense
Recommended loadout: Best combat armor available, heavy weapons, medical pens, grenades
Persistent Sandbox Locations
Open-world points of interest that don’t have formal missions but reward exploration:
- Derelict ships with salvageable cargo
- Hidden caches placed by NPC factions
- Environmental storytelling through the space itself
How to Find These Locations
- Mission boards: Some Regen Crisis missions will direct you to these locations
- Scanning: Use ship scanners to detect points of interest on planet surfaces
- Comm chatter: Listen for NPC radio transmissions that hint at locations
- Community intel: Check Discord for location coordinates shared by other CDYN members
Survival Tips
Before You Go
- Set a spawn point as close to your target location as possible
- Bring a ship with a bed for emergency log-out
- Check radiation levels for your target area — bring appropriate armor
- Tell your division where you’re heading
On Site
- Clear rooms systematically — don’t rush
- Check corners and elevated positions for AI enemies
- Watch your oxygen in depressurized areas
- Loot quickly and extract — lingering attracts PvP
- Use cover against AI — they’re more accurate than previous patches
Extraction
- Don’t fly a slow ship to high-value locations
- Store loot in your ship inventory immediately
- Vary your exit routes to avoid ambushes
- If you hear ship engines overhead, assume hostile intent
CDYN Group Operations
The Regen Crisis content is designed for group play. CDYN members should consider running these locations in teams:
- 2-3 player squad for research facilities
- 4-6 player squad for ASDs (expect PvP)
- Dedicated pilot staying with the ship for quick extraction
Coordinate through your division channels on Discord. This content rewards preparation and teamwork.
